Users of Social iGaming Projects Prefer Anonymity

The SOFTSWISS team described the profile of a typical user of social online casinos and revealed several other trends that will characterize this sphere in 2024.

Social Casino Users Prefer Anonymity

SOFTSWISS shared the results of a large-scale study of the target audience of social iGaming projects, conducted based on the user base of the SpinArena platform. The study analyzed data from about 700,000 social casino users, of which more than 80% prefer anonymity, as registration on these platforms doesn’t require mandatory disclosure of personal data.

Among the players who did share their data, the vast majority were users between the ages of 18 and 30 — their number reached 12.45% of the total number of players. In second place are users between 30 and 40 years old, who make up only 3.12% of the total number of players. In third place are users over 40 years old, less than 1%. In total, less than 17% of users disclosed their age.

The absolute majority of players who indicated their gender identity are men. The social casino is most popular among players from Germany, with the U.K. and Northern Ireland in second and third place, respectively.

Other interesting data presented in the study:

  • the average gaming session lasts ~47 minutes;
  • the highest player activity occurs in the afternoon and evening;
  • the highest number of registrations is between 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.;
  • the highest player activity is on Friday and Sunday, the lowest on Monday, but the difference is only about 10%;
  • the retention rate of players from Germany within a month after registration is 14%;
  • slots are the most popular among players;
  • the top five most popular games account for a third of all gaming sessions, and half of the gaming sessions are for the top 15 games;
  • Gates of Olympus, Sweet Bonanza, and Sugar Rush are favorites in both social and traditional online casinos.

In summary, gaming habits and user activity align with human biorhythms and social obligations, thereby following predictable patterns. Jochen Martinez, Founder at Ously Games GmbH, notes that the needs of users in traditional and social casinos are similar. Still, social casinos stand out by offering a safer gaming process, absence of financial risks, and a unique environment for social interaction.

In turn, Vitali Matsukevich, COO at SOFTSWISS, emphasized that today, the behavior of social casino users coincides with that of players who prefer traditional iGaming projects. In this context, the recent acquisition of a stake in the German company Ously Games GmbH, which owns SpinArena, the largest European social casino platform, is strategic and intended to contribute to the development of a new B2B software product from SOFTSWISS — a comprehensive social casino platform.
