Google and PayPal entered a strategic partnership under which PayPal will become a key payments provider for Google Cloud, Google Ads, and Google Play.
The announced agreement between Google and PayPal envisions broad integration of PayPal’s products into Google’s ecosystem. According to the terms, PayPal will also process a significant portion of card-based payments across Google’s core services.
The partnership aims to set new standards for digital commerce by combining Google’s AI technologies with PayPal’s payment expertise. PayPal solutions will be deeply embedded in Google products, providing faster and more secure transactions for users and businesses.
Special attention will be given to enterprise services. PayPal Enterprise Payments will become one of the main payment operators for Google Cloud, Google Ads, and Google Play. In addition to payment processing, PayPal and Google Cloud will work on modernizing their technological infrastructure to create a next-generation digital payments and commerce platform. The companies are also developing new commerce standards based on AI agents, including the implementation of the Agent Payments Protocol.
PayPal CEO Alex Chriss emphasized that the collaboration targets Google’s multi-billion user base, creating new opportunities for merchants and consumers worldwide.
Google recently announced the launch of the Universal Ledger (GCUL) DLT platform to modernize payments services and capital market products. Meanwhile, PayPal is actively expanding its PYUSD stablecoin infrastructure and integrating cryptocurrencies into P2P transfers.
