Elon Musk Registers AI-driven Startup Rivaling OpenAI Dubbed ‘X.AI Corp’

  • According to the filing, Musk is the only listed director of the business.
  • Musk recently recruited Igor Babuschkin, a scientist at Alphabet Inc.’s DeepMind.

Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, has reportedly filed paperwork with the state of Nevada. In order to establish a new artificial intelligence (AI) corporation under the name X.AI Corp. The latest move in his much-rumored stealth enterprise.

According to the filing, Musk is the only listed director of the business. And Jared Birchall, director of Musk’s family office, is the company secretary. The name of the firm comes from Musk’s repeated, meaningful references in tweets and interviews to his botched effort to develop an “everything app” dubbed X.

Race to Create More Sophisticated AI Models

The 51-year-old business tycoon recently rebranded his recently purchased Twitter as X Corp. The newly renamed X Corporation is a subsidiary of X Holdings Corp. According to rumors, Elon Musk was planning to start a new firm with a proprietary AI model similar to ChatGPT to compete with OpenAI, Google, and Amazon.

In order to create a competitor to the widely used chatbot ChatGPT, which was published in November 2022. Musk has spent the better part of the previous several months acquiring qualified experts.

The software entrepreneur recently recruited Igor Babuschkin, a scientist at Alphabet Inc.’s DeepMind, to head up the new project. Those in the know claim that Musk has also sought to recruit workers from OpenAI to work in the new lab, but has had only little success so far.

More and more top technology firms are engaging in a cutthroat race to create more sophisticated artificial intelligence models in response to Musk’s next AI endeavor. In order to better react to user inquiries and even exceed most people on standardized exams like the Bar exam and the LSAT, OpenAI’s newest AI model, GPT-4, mimics human reading and writing.
