Argentina Police Arrest 5 in Raid on Crypto-paying ‘Unlawful Iris Scanning Gang’

Police in Argentina have arrested 5 folks they are saying had been scanning folks’s irises in a parking zone in trade for “crypto and money.”

Per experiences from La Nacion and the broadcaster LT9, the suspects had been “providing to scan folks’s irises” for crypto or fiat “in an identical option to” operators of “the Worldcoin (WLD) platform.”

Officers arrested the group in Santa Fe’s Feria del Litoral Parking Lot, on the Avenida del Valle.

The group was arrested on suspicion of “finishing up unlawful actions linked to digital crimes” and “fraud with biometric knowledge.”

Did Suspects Goal Purchasing Mall Clients?

Officers stated the group contains “4 males and a girl,” most of whom hail from the province of Córdoba.

Police stated they had been “investigating the case to find out the scope of the suspects’ actions.”

In addition they need to set up “whether or not any victims” had swapped their biometric knowledge for cash.

Officers launched pictures of property they confiscated on the scene. The haul included 29 cell telephones, a Volkswagen automotive, and over $600,000 value of money.

The police stated they’ve handed the case over to Santa Fe prosecutors.
