Armenian cultural heritage will be preserved for future generations thanks to the Realm of Historia initiative, under which the country’s historical monuments will be tokenized on the Solana blockchain.
Under the Realm of Historia (ROH) initiative, which aims to digitally preserve cultural heritage, Armenia’s historical artifacts and physical objects of historical significance will be tokenized.
The first step will be the creation of the NFT collection Realm of Historia: Carahunge X, consisting of digital copies of the stones of Carahunge (Zorats Karer), an ancient megalithic complex. The tokens will be minted on the Solana blockchain.
“The Stonehenge of Armenia,” dated by historians to 5487 BC, holds a high historical value for the region, but the physical impact on the monument is too severe. That’s why Zorats Karer became the first site within the ROH initiative.
According to Ivan Grantovsky, one of the founders of ROH, the use of blockchain within the project will not only preserve Armenia’s cultural heritage but also create an unbreakable bond between the past, present, and future. He said the Solana blockchain wasn’t chosen by chance. The network is both easy to use and remarkable for its technological reliability and efficiency.
In addition to the digitization of cultural heritage objects, the project also aims to support Armenian artists and cooperate with local charities. The initiative plans to create The Atrium, a virtual museum that can be accessed in 3D space.
Eventually, the founders of Realm of Historia plan to expand the initiative beyond Armenia. Negotiations regarding possible projects on preservation of historical sites are already underway in Malta, Italy, Cambodia, and Georgia.
Earlier, a scientist from London together with a tech specialist from Abu Dhabi created a blockchain platform capable of verifying the origin of ancient artifacts.
