Tokenized U.S. Treasury bills are now available for retail investors in the digital asset market.
Crypto exchange Woo X announced the launch of tokenized T-Bills for retail investors, marking the first offering of its kind in the market. The offering operates on the RWA Earn Vaults protocol, launched in collaboration with OpenTrade, an institutional platform for tokenization based in London.
Investors are offered the opportunity to invest USDC in tokenized T-Bills with an annual yield of 4.5–4.7% (APR) depending on the asset’s deposit term. The offering aims to bridge the gap between traditional securities and the digital asset market by providing crypto investors with the opportunity to invest in high-quality financial assets with low risk levels.
Analysts noted that the market volume of tokenized T-Bills stood at $1.07 billion as of the end of March 2024. The tokenization issue is of interest to the Bank for International Settlements, the European Central Bank, major banks in the U.K., and other financial institutions.
