Revolut launched an instant money transfer service to mainland China via the Alipay payment system, allowing users to send funds using just a recipient’s ID and name.
Revolut announced a partnership with Ant International that enables its users to make instant transfers to China through the Alipay payment system. The transaction limit is set at 50,000 yuan (~$7,000). The service is already available to Revolut users in Japan and Singapore, with plans to expand to other countries in the future.
According to the World Bank, money transfers to China reached $48 billion in 2024.
The new service meets growing demand for convenient cross-border remittances, simplifying the process to just two fields, the recipient’s Alipay ID and name. Transfers are made in yuan, with Revolut automatically converting the sender’s balance into yuan at the current exchange rate if necessary.
On the technical side, the integration with Alipay is powered by Ant International’s global platform, ensuring compliance, security, and scalability. Jacques Xu, General Manager of Global Remittance Business at Ant International, said that the partnership with Revolut will redefine the cross-border remittance experience and strengthen both companies’ global positions.
In May 2025, Revolut introduced support for the Lightning Network infrastructure to optimize Bitcoin payments for users in the U.K. and select countries in the European Economic Area.
