The port infrastructure maintenance sector is about to go through a transformation because of a new alliance between Aumenta Solutions, MSI, and Jelurida. With the use of augmented reality (AR) and blockchain technology, this cutting-edge platform offers real-time data sharing for maintenance, boosting productivity, and minimizing outages.
In 2020, the University of Girona’s TECNIO Centre EASY research group and Aumenta Solutions collaborated on an INNOTEC project to create a blockchain-based real-time maintenance solution for the industry. The initiative increased the effectiveness and traceability of industrial maintenance operations by combining blockchain certification with augmented reality.
In 2023, a new real-world market segment—the global port infrastructure industry—will be the focus of Aumenta Solutions and MSI’s strategy. This market, which was valued at $148.1 billion in 2020, is anticipated to rise at a CAGR of 4.9% from 2021 to 2030 to reach $243.1 billion.
The port’s infrastructure is essential for providing services to ships, cargo, and travelers. Yet, enhancing port infrastructure requires costly expenditures, protracted planning, and significant lead times.
The Ardor blockchain and augmented reality technologies fuel the port infrastructure maintenance initiative developed by Aumenta Solutions and MSI. On-site access to digital information such as schematics and maintenance instructions is made possible by this technology, which also enables Ardor Blockchain to certify user tasks.
The technology makes it possible to retrieve maintenance data instantly, which streamlines maintenance procedures.
With the help of this technology, maintenance activities may be completed more quickly and accurately, enabling personnel to address problems as they arise.
Francisco Sarrias from Jelurida Swiss SA stated, “The use of AR technology is a game-changer for maintenance in the port construction and asset management industry. It allows maintenance workers to access real-time digital information, improving efficiency and reducing downtime. We are excited to introduce this new technology to the industry and help drive innovation in maintenance processes.”
With the help of a blend of AR pictures validated by the Ardor blockchain, the project includes a maintenance certification scheme that makes sure all chores are completed on-site and on time.
Pere Roset, Managing Partner at Aumenta Solutions, stated, “The certification program is an important component of the project, ensuring that maintenance tasks are done properly at the right place and at the right time.”
By boosting productivity, lowering downtime, and enhancing the precision of maintenance jobs, the alliance of Aumenta Solutions, MSI, and Jelurida is set to revolutionize the port maintenance sector.
Currently in development, the project is scheduled to be launched in the upcoming months.
