Director Neill Blomkamp unveils “Off The Grid”, an Avalanche-based game

Acclaimed sci-fi director Neill Blomkamp and Oats Studios are developing Off The Grid, a groundbreaking blockchain-based game set on a dedicated Avalanche subnet.

Acclaimed South African director Neill Blomkamp, known for his successful sci-fi movies such as District 9, Elysium, and Chappie, has now set his sights on the gaming industry.

Blomkamp brings his ideas to blockchain

Blomkamp and his Vancouver-based company, Oats Studios, are working on a new blockchain-based game called “Off The Grid,” which will be dedicated to the Avalanche Subnet.

Avalanche is a decentralized platform designed for launching decentralized applications (dApps), financial assets, and enterprise blockchain deployments. It employs subnetworks, or “subnets,” which are customized and dedicated chains that provide distinct functionalities.

Off The Grid will reside on a dedicated Avalanche subnet, offering unique benefits such as lower transaction costs and faster confirmation times.

Off The Grid’s storyline is set in a dystopian near-future where citizens are governed by a totalitarian regime that uses cutting-edge technology to control every aspect of their lives.

Players will assume the role of a skilled hacker, fighting against this oppressive regime and working to free society from its clutches.

By using blockchain technology, Off The Grid aims to ensure that in-game assets, including currency and collectibles, are decentralized and owned by the players themselves.
